You work as a freelance filmmaker, DP, owner-operator, or solo shooter.
You’re a content creator, photographer, or marketing professional who’s taken on video and wants it to look intentional - not accidental.
You care about craft, clarity, and making smart decisions on set, even when the location isn’t ideal.
And you’re interested in building a freelance career that’s sustainable, not chaotic.

Real-World Problem Solving
How to walk into unfamiliar spaces and quickly assess what matters.
Working with what you’re given, making clear decisions on set, and solving problems without overcomplicating the process.
I’m Tom Miller — a freelance cinematographer and producer with over 20 years of experience shooting documentaries, commercials, and branded content in real-world conditions.
I’ve worked all over the world, often in unpredictable locations, helping clients tell honest, human stories. Over time, I’ve built a six-figure freelance career working fewer days by being clear about my offer, consistent in my approach, and focused on doing solid work without unnecessary complexity.
Freelancers Film School grew out of that experience. It’s a place to share the practical lessons I wish I’d had earlier — about interviews, problem solving on set, and building a freelance career that’s sustainable over the long term.
